What is "Marketing Your Church"?
Many of us understand marketing from a business perspective. But is there a place for that in the church? Yes! Don't the very words of the parable of the great feast in Luke 14 tell us to go out and compel them to come in? We are not to sit around and just hope folks show up on Sunday morning. We are to be active in compelling them to "come in" to the church.

Know your market

Step number one is to know your market. Know who is within close proximity to your church. What are they like? Are they mostly young families? Are they mostly middle-aged professionals with nearly grown kids? Are you near a military base? What is the median income for the area surrounding the church? All of these are factors in knowing your market. Our staff can assist you in all aspects of creating a demographic profile of your church and it's environs.

Creating a marketing plan

Once we know something about our market, then we can begin to formulate a plan to reach them in ways that are significant to them. Our staff is again ready to work with you to create ministries that are relevant and significant to those folks and families that you are trying to reach.

Implementation

Now that we have a great plan, what do we do with it? Implement it. It will be tempting to try to implement everything at once. Our staff will help you focus on the priorities of the plan and will help you match those up with the resources that you have available. A phased approach will begin to yield small successes. Those successes will in turn encourage others to be apart of what is going on in the church.

Ministry analysis

So, how are we doing? Are we being successful at implementing the plan? What is working? What isn't? Why isn't it working? And what is making some aspects of the plan more successful than others? Ministry analysis is rarely undertaken in the local church. We run the same ministries that we have always run. And we sit around and wonder why they just aren't working. Our staff will help you to analyze these new ministries and see what needs tweaked and what needs to be shelved for use another time.
