Two guys -- One is a pastor. And one is a layman. A church version of the "Odd Couple"?

Can these two guys share a passion and a vision for the church without driving each other crazy? David Woods and Kevin Bowser, the two guys who are the driving forces for ISI Consultants have a relationship and a Christian love for one another that goes back 18 years. Together they are using the gifts and abilities that God has given them to be a powerful force for change and to model a new style of leadership in the local church.

Where does the name, "ISI Consultants" come from?

The name comes from Proverbs 27:17. "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." That passage means a great deal to David and Kevin. It was a passage that exemplified the commitment that they made to hold one another accountable and to build one another up in their Faith.

Consulting or Workshops

Many pastors of large churches have the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars at other larger churches on the national scene. But what about pastors of smaller churches? And what about the lay leaders of the church? Many times these folks cannot take time away from their busy work schedules to attend multi-day mid-week seminars. ISI Consultants bring the tools and talents to the local church and transfers them to the local church in a clear and concise manner. What is left behind is a local church with a renewed focus and new skills to meet the challenges of ministry in the 21^st century.

Company history

ISI Consultants began at the kitchen table of David and Karen Woods back in 1995. It began as a plan to bring some much needed structure to their local church. David and Kevin were both members of their church board in a suburb of Washington, DC and were looking to revitalize the church and it's leadership by transformational change. Change from a group of folks who listen to reports and approve an annual budget into thought leaders and ministry champions.

Kevin was the first to take the output of that effort and turn it into a viable and repeatable process. Over the subsequent years he has worked in various capacities with local churches to bring about transformational change to them as well.

In December of 2006, Dave and Kevin committed to work together again in a more structured way to offer transformational change to small churches who are looking for a way to impact their corner of the world with the love of Jesus Christ. Then there will be real transformational change. Hearts will be changed. Hope will be renewed. Men and women, teenagers and children will be impacted by God through His hands and feet -- the local church.

As an Elder and lay leader within a small independent church, I have faced many of the struggles that come with limited resources and expertise. I have used Kevin Bowser for many years as a sounding board and pool of knowledge when evaluating opportunities and developing programs to meet church needs. Most recently, Kevin provided valuable consultation as we reorganized our ministry structure to divide the areas of focus into four areas of individual passion...Shepherding, Outreach, Activities, and Facilities/Grounds. His input was used not only to develop the structure itself, but also to plan the presentation to the Body as well as the communication leading up to and following after the big kickoff.

Kevin's insights are always readily offered when I solicit them, and his ideas are as practical as they are valuable. I appreciate the informal support that he has provided over the years and would expect him to be very successful and effective when doing this in an official capacity. He has a very engaging personality and presents his ideas with confidence and credibility.
